Hi, I’m Emily! As a second-generation photographer, I’ve always appreciated how photos preserve life’s fleeting moments. Becoming a mom gave me a deeper perspective, and now I focus on capturing the sweet details of childhood—those tiny fingers, squishy cheeks, and everything in between. My goal is to create simple, timeless portraits that let your baby’s unique personality shine.

Being a toddler mom myself, I understand the joys and challenges of those early days, and I consider it an honor to be chosen to capture your little one’s first moments. It’s a privilege to document this fleeting season and provide you with photos you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m at home with my husband (my preschool sweetheart), our toddler, Collin, and our lab, Axel. I’m a homebody at heart who loves thrifting for hidden gems, crocheting, and unwinding with Monk on Netflix. My faith in Jesus guides everything I do, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve families through photography.

Kala James

Hi, I’m Kala! As a wife and mom to three amazing teenagers—Emma, Anna Mae, and Cooper—family means everything to me. Since joining Butler Studio in 2021, I’ve found so much joy in specializing in newborn and baby photography. Capturing the sweetness and innocence of those early days is truly special, and I love weaving family heirlooms and sentimental touches into each session to make them one of a kind.

Away from the lens, you’ll find me spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, or organizing (yes, I find it fun!). I’ve been homeschooling my kids since 2016, which has been one of life’s most rewarding adventures. I’m also an active member of our church and love traveling—New Orleans has my heart, especially during crawfish and festival season!

I can’t wait to meet you and your family to create memories you’ll treasure forever. Let’s make something beautiful together!
